The
Association is composed of Full Members and Associated Members.

particularly of those, which form the European Union are considered Full

Organisations are considered Associated Members.
The end of the second millennium was marked by a year of
economic contrasts - a brilliant start, but a second half marked by sluggishness
brought about by the rise in the price of crude oil and of oil products, and
several of fortunes for the new economy.
While the rise in GDP was of the order of 2.7% in 2000 for the European Union,
the international market for lubricants fell back by 0.8%, with contrasting
changes in the major product lines: -2% for automotive lubricants, +1.5% for
industrial lubricants, and -2.5% for process oils.
An analysis of the member countries shows, once again, with just two exceptions,
a contrasting situation between northern countries, whose markets have fallen
back overall and southern countries, which have shown an increase.
To go beyond this very preliminary analysis is outside the area of EUROPALUB's remit.
The mission of EUROPALUB, backed by its members, must be strengthened in order
to contribute certain elements that characterise the development of markets,
development that is going to continue in the next few years, influenced by
the general behaviour of the economy.
We extend our warm thanks to all the members and to other associations for
their constructive participation in the strengthening of the common enterprise
: EUROPALUB.
